What a year. Henstū is now one year old and during our first twelve months, we have firmly established ourselves as the go to public cloud service provider for asset managers. Before our sushi and sake birthday party this Thursday, it feels appropriate to take a moment to celebrate the major milestones achieved so far.

Our proudest moments

  • Partnering with hedge funds across four continents to design, build and manage their platforms
  • Running over 300,000 compute hours across three cloud providers: AWS, Azure, Google
  • Deploying cutting edge technology including cloud powered market data, trading platforms and research clusters to help managers with over $190bn in AUM transition their workloads to the public cloud,
  • Hosting a number of oversubscribed workshops on public cloud computing, engaging openly with the asset management community and regulators over this new and evolving field of technology
Of course, the journey does not stop here. Hentsū’s second year will be fuelled by even more rapid growth, starting with an expansion into our new New York offices on 3rd October. As more and more asset managers begin their own journeys to unlock the power of the public cloud, Hentsū aims to remain the partner of choice in helping evolve their IT thinking beyond the traditional. So here’s to the year that you made possible! Get in touch and stay tuned for photos from our 1st birthday party. we are one

Have you ever wanted to spend a night at New York’s premier art space, with the luxury of a personal tour guide? Do you know the difference between Modern and Contemporary Art? How are hedge funds intricately connected with the art world? MoMA Hentsu On the 28th September, a special art tour and drinks reception took place at the MoMA Museum for New York’s quantitative hedge fund community. This exclusive event was sponsored by Hentsū and hosted by Bartt Kellermann from Battle of the Quants. Bartt acted as tour guide for the evening, knowledgeably sharing his collection of extraordinary facts as he wended his way through the museum’s most iconic artworks.

Hedge Fund Connection

MoMA Hentsu Hedge funds have long played an active role in financial markets and are now developing a track record of taking creative financial positions in art. Whether it involves bidding up the prices of undervalued artists or offloading positions in overvalued artists, there’s no doubt that hedge fund investors have begun to disrupt a traditionally genteel market with their aggressive approach. Hot-shot art collector Steve Cohen’s trades are among some of the most closely followed – at over $1B in value and featuring the likes of Picasso, Gaugin and Van Gogh, his collection represents a portfolio of truly “alternative investments”.

The CIA and Art?

MoMA Hentsu Needless to say guests enjoyed this dose of midweek culture. Overheard over drinks, one guest delightedly stated: “I found the ‘Jackson Pollock’ conspiracy curious. Who knew he was used by the then CIA to bolster American Culture vis-à-vis the Soviet Union? Great stuff!”. If you’re in asset management and into your art, send us an email for the next bARTt Tour.
